Four Steps To Website SuccessWarning: even though these four steps to website success are straight forward and appear easy, each requires hard...but not impossible...work.But that's OK. Invariably, achieving better than average results requires more than the average effort. If you are the kind of person who seeks great results from your own great efforts, these steps will definitely help you. On the other hand, if you are satisfied with the results that you have always achieved, keep doing what you have always done, the way you have always done it. You really don't need the information set out in the following four steps to website success. Step I: Decide What Your Website Will Be All AboutIf you already run a business, most likely your site will be about your business or some aspect of it. If that's the case, skip to Step II of the four steps to website success. However, you already run a business but would like your new website to be about something other than your business, read on. If you would like to have your own website, but do not know what to build a site about, here is a suggestion. ![]() Download a free copy of Make Your Knowledge Sell. Although this comprehensive e-book will probably tell you far more than you really need and want know, it will most certainly help you come up with a variety of website ideas. And since it's free, why not tell others about this resource? Top If you are thinking of building a website
but don't know what your site should be about, you probably know
other people in the same situation.
Do them a favor and share your research with them. It won't cost you anything. You can use the social media links at the bottom of the page to tell others about this free resource as well as the four steps to website success. But a word of caution about this e-book, whether you plan to use it yourself or recommend it others. It...is... a very... big....book.... and it can be a very...tough...read. If you want a quick 2 ½ minute video shortcut about building a website based on your interests, see what the President of Site Sell has to say. The good news however, is that once you have worked your way through all or most of the book, you will probably have identified several viable site concepts. And after only one of the four steps to website success, you will also be well on your way to building your own website...without spending any money. You certainly can't beat that. Top Step II: Assess The Demand For Your Site ConceptThe second of
four steps to website success focuses on the relative demand
for the site that you are considering. Your proposed website will be selling something...if only your ideas about your chosen topic. This means that in order for your site to succeed, there must be a reasonable number of people searching for information about your theme. If your theme is too narrow there is not enough demand for you to attract visitors let alone make any money from your site. To save you time, here is a link to the best tool for assessing site demand that I have ever seen. Go
to the SBI action
guide, and choose Day 2 from either the video action guide
(upper
left) or the written
action guide (upper right).
Don't worry...it's free. Top Once you have worked
through either the video or written version, you will have a good
understanding not only of the relative demand for your site topic,
but also a sense of how profitable it might be.
In some respects, this may be the most critical of your four steps to website success. Even if you have identified a site topic that you you and in which you are an unquestioned expert, without a reasonable demand for your site concept, your site will not likely succeed over the long term. Top Step III: Select The System To Build Your WebsiteWhen you have one or more potentially site concepts in mind, the next of you four steps to website success helps you identify the most appropriate system for building your website. If you already have the knowledge and expertise to know what's involved with building a website, you will probably want to do your own research. That's fine, you can skip the rest of this step as well as Step IV of the four steps to website success. Top However, for the sake
of more thorough
research, you might use the material that follows as a checklist for
evaluating the various systems that you review.
Researching website design systems can be like trying to navigate through a swamp...so every bit of useful information helps.
