Your
Goals: 5 Reasons Why Action
Is
Required To Achieve Them
Goal:
an intended outcome that requires action
Unquestionably, goals are critical success factors.
But even with goals, many people fail to succeed.
In most cases, they fail to achieve the results they desire because
they don't take the action required to succeed.
There are many reasons why action is required to achieve the results
you desire...here are 5.
1. Without Action, Your Goals Are Unfulfilled Dreams
Certainly dreams are important...they represent what we value and
desire.
They help us define the results we would like to achieve and motivate
us to develop plans to achieve these results.
However, without action, dreams usually remain unfulfilled. And
unfulfilled dreams can be problematic.
First there is the disappointment and frustration of not being unable
to enjoy what you value and desire.
Disappointment and frustration
are both negative emotions that can limit your success.
Second, unfulfilled dreams increase the gap between your current
situation and what you desire. For most of us there is tension
between our current situation and what we desire.
Attracted by the
desirability of the results we would like to achieve, we are pulled
toward them.
On the other hand, the inertia of the status quo holds us
back.
The only way to reduce the tension is to narrow the gap between these
two positions.
You can bring this about by modifying your dreams so that they more
closely reflect your current situation.
This means accepting the
status quo and requires no action.
Or you can work on overcoming the inertia of the status quo and
shifting current situation closer to your desired outcome.
This takes
action....it also leads to fulfilling your dreams and success.

2. Marketing Plans Are Not Self-Implementing
A good marketing plan details the your
intended outcomes.
But even the
best marketing plans do not implement themselves automatically.
It
takes action on your part to implement your plan and achieve your goals.

3. Doing Something Is Better Than Doing Nothing
Doing nothing leaves you at the mercy of forces and factors that you
cannot control.
According to Michael Gerber, this is “...passively waiting to see
where life takes [you] next..."
In The
E-Myth Revisited, he explains:
“...the difference between great
people and everyone else is that
great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is
created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes
them next.
“The
difference between the two is the difference between living
fully and just existing.
“The
difference between the two is living intentionally and living
by accident.”
Succeeding is living intentionally...and it requires action.

4. Actions Distract Your Mind From Nurturing
Seeds Of Doubt
Our current world is overloaded with too much information, most of
which seems negative.
Cynics and nay-sayers appear to love the
never-ending flow of bad news, especially during our current economic
uncertainties.
Given the constant barrage of bad news, even the most positive
thinkers are subject to the occasional doubts.
Unoccupied minds are
excellent great breeding grounds for seeds of doubt.
Small problems
get bigger; seemingly difficult situations deteriorate to impossible
challenges.
Taking action, especially focused action, diverts your mind's
attention from nurturing doubt.
Instead of fretting about what might
happen, it is engaged in what is
happening.
This limits the growth of
doubt and fosters the growth of confidence.

5. Taking Action Builds Momentum
Inertia keeps us standing still. Sometimes it takes a little push to
get us moving. Other times it takes more effort.
But once we are moving, momentum keeps us going.
It's momentum that makes the small snowball rolling down a hill move
faster and get bigger.
And momentum is also what helps small
businesses, including yours, grow...small steps that attract more
prospects, which generates more new business, which
generates more
repeat and referral business...and so on.
The snowball does not get bigger just by standing still.
Nor do
businesses grow just by passively waiting for prospects to call.
Taking even the smallest action can start the momentum that
eventually leads to your achieving your goals.
Regardless of what your goals are or how good they are, you
simply cannot
achieve them without taking the required action.
