Include Images For Better Web Content

A good variety of appropriate images can add variety to your website

They also increase your visitors' interest in learning more about you and how you can help them.

Content Is King

images-crownIn order to attract visitors to your website, there is no doubt that that content is king.

Visitors come to your site looking for information about how you can help them.

The best to satisfy your visitors is to provide content that helps them understand what distinguishes you from the competition...and what benefits they can expect to receive as a result to hiring you.

Photographs of You

Appropriate pictures can make your website more interesting for visitors.

Certainly you will want to include your professionally prepared photograph, ideally as a component of your personal profile or personal brand. images-real-estate-agent

It might also help generate more interest by also including photographs in which you are helping clients...hosting an open house, showing a property, meeting with clients and so on.

Instead of having pictures like these taken when you are working, it's better to set-up the 'photo-ops'.

This will ensure that you can produce good quality of images without interfering with your actual client service.

It's a good idea to have willing family members or friends stand in for clients...unless of course your actual clients agree to participate in the photo shoot.

Pictures That Show Your Market

images-community-centerAs well as describing your target market include photographs of some of its amenities and features.

With your clients' permission, include photographs of the types of properties you typically help clients buy and sell.

Good photographs of your market add life to your web content and enhance your appeal to prospective clients.

Client Photographs

Client testimonials make excellent web content.

They confirm both your personal brand and brand promise.

The only thing better than a client testimonial is a testimonial which includes the clients' picture...it enhances the overall credibility of the testimonial and your web content.

Show Your Knowledge And Expertise

For the most part, your content will be based on your own knowledge and experience.

If you have not already done so, download your copy of Make Your Content Pre-Sell. images-content-presell

By following the guidelines in this e-book, you will need only a few photographs to illustrate your main points.

For examples of how pictures are used to illustrate web content, browse through this site.

The following pages illustrate the both the variety and placement of photographs and graphics in web content.

Home Maintenance Pictures

images-home-maintenanceWhenever your content includes tips and suggestions for home maintenance, it's a good to include 'before-and-after' photographs.

The before photographs would illustrate the situation as it existed...obviously the after picture would illustrate the transformation as a result of the maintenance.

You might also include pictures of actual tradespeople performing the maintenance of renovation work.

Ideally these would be photogrpahs of your referral partners...or pictures that they have supplied.

Sources Of Photographs

There are hundreds if not thousands of sources of good images for your website.

Here are 4 of the best.

Many photographs and images available online are protected by copyright.

Generally speaking, any images contain any of the following elements are probably copyright protected:
  • ©
  • ®
  • TM
  • creator's name, initial or other identifying mark
To avoid copyright problems, it's usually best to not use any photographs or graphics that have any identifying marks or symbols of any kind.

If you really like an image and want to use it, contact its creator for permission.

If you think a photograph or graphic may be copyright, but are unable to identify its creator or how to contact that person, move on.

There are lots of other free graphics you can use.

Visitors usually appreciate content supplemented by images, because it breaks up the flow of text.

Unfortunately too many photos will reduce the overall effectiveness of your site.

Content..not attractive photographs...offers your visitors the information they are seeking.
