Choosing The Right Niche Market Products

The right niche market products are the goods and services that best satisfy your clients.

Making The Right Choices

Succeeding in a niche market depends largely upon making the right choice of:
  1. niche market...or market segment
  2. products...or services...to sell in the chosen niche market
It is important to remember that the term 'products' also includes personal and professional services.

This is more than simply using the shorter term 'products' to represent the longer phrases 'goods and services' or 'products and services'.

Even the most basic of products...such as a pen or pencil....has a service component. Invariably, this service component is provided by the supplier of the product.

Regardless of the nature of the physical or tangible product, it is the service component that helps distinguish one product from another.

If for example I am looking for a red pen, I can go to anywhere from the neighborhood variety store to a big box store and select the cheapest one I can find.

Or I can go to a stationery or specialty store and ask for a red pen that is suitable for my purposes.

In helping me make my choice, the store clerk is providing a service that in fact distinguishes one pen from other comparable pens.

Regardless of which niche market products ...including services...that you select, always remember that it is your service component that will help distinguish your product from the competition.

The Right Niche Market Products

The right products are the goods and services that best satisfy niche market clients.

The not-so-good market products are what you think...or even worse, guess...what might satisfy niche market clients.

As part of your niche market research, make it a point to identify specifically what goods and services actually satisfy the clients in that market.

Also as part of this process, complete a competitive analysis of other businesses currently providing the niche market products that you propose to deliver.

For help in completing your competitive analysis, see How To Achieve Better Market Results...Sooner. better marlketing results

This ebook contains an easy simple to use approach for completing a competitive analysis.

Unless you can deliver the same goods and services at least as good as the competition, don't even think of entering that market segment.

In this case you have two choices:
  1. look for an alternative segment in which you can compete effectively
  2. do whatever it takes to become at least as good as...if not better than...the competition.

The Right Niche Market Products For You

Two factors contribute to your choosing...and successfully providing the right  products.

1. Demand For The Products Exceeds The Supply

In most cases, it is difficult to identify demand and supply for specific products.

Some professional and trade associations offer statistics and reports from which you can draw you own conclusions.

As a rule however, you are pretty much on your own in determining the relative demand and supply for your proposed products.

Certainly gathering information that will help you make this determination should be part of your niche market research.

networkingYou could also gather this information as part of your networking activities.

Simply ask your network contacts both existing and new what they think about the relative demand and supply for your proposed products.

Although not as reliable or objective as focused market research, this information will help give you a general sense of the demand and supply.

At a some point, you will have to satisfy yourself if there is enough demand for the products you plan to provide.

2. Market Segment Strategy

Once you have satisfied yourself that there will be sufficient demand, the next step is to develop and implement the market segment strategies that are best for you...your niche market products...and your market segment.

With the right combination of niche market, niche market products market segment strategies, you are well on your way to success.
