Nor is there an objective standard that applies equally to everyone.
Many advertisers work hard to convince us that when we buy their products or services we will certainly give the appearance of being successful.
However, an image of success is not the same as authentic success.
Similarly, motivational writers and speakers claim that we can be as successful as they are...if and only if, we do exactly what they have done to achieve their success.
The pitches of advertisers, writers and speakers certainly sound promising.
But none are accurate and realistic.
The true meaning of success is different for everyone.
It has to be.
In the briefest of terms, success means achieving desired results.
Success for you means achieving your desired results, just as success for me means achieving my desired results.
As a result, the true meaning of success is different for you than it is for me...or anyone else.

Our core values define who we are as individuals.Not surprisingly, our core values also help shape our success.
Our personal core values help define what success means to us as individuals.
Similarly our business core values and values that attract clients help define what success means in our work or business lives.
Specifically, our core values help define our goals...both personal and business.
In setting our goals, we are in fact defining our desired results...the specific outcomes that we would like to bring about.
As a result, when setting smart goals, we are also defining our own true meaning of success.

As human beings, we continue to change.This means that our beliefs and values will also continue to evolve...developing and refining with each new life experience.
Not surprisingly, our goals should also continue to change.
Certainly our goals will be different as experienced adults than they were as idealistic teenagers.
