Website Information...If It's Good & Well Organized,You Cannot Have Too MuchIf you offer lots of useful website information, not much else really matters. An Information-Rich WebsiteTara Camps's website is one of most information-rich websites I have ever seen. The
home page is
totally loaded...almost overloaded...with rich visitor-satisfying
information about real estate in and around Bellingham, Washington. This page offers
virtually every kind of real-estate information that site visitors
might conceivably seek.Instead of simply offering this website information in huge walls of words, the content is organized by category. As an added bonus, the very effective use of links that help visitors find specific information that they seek..easily and quickly. Conventional navigation tabs down the left side of the home page offer the kinds of links that visitors have come to expect. In addition to these tabs, the home page offers other options—text links and images also serve as links. As well as the images serving as links, there are other graphics, images and short descriptive content that add to the visitor appeal by simplifying access to website information. Top What Is Not ThereWhat makes this website particularly interesting is what is not there. Not only does it not have an 'about me' page, it does not have a single photograph of the agent. An 'about me' page offers the opportunity to showcase your credentials and and establish your qualifications as some one who can help clients with their real estate needs. However because Tara's website information is so rich, the whole site qualifies her as a knowledgeable expert. Because her site offers so much useful information, visitors could be expected to conclude that Tara herself is very knowledgeable about the markets she describes. Top Your Photographs On Your WebsiteThe closest Tara comes to a photograph on her site is what appears to be her logo...is that her standing beside the sold sign?![]() Unquestionably, good photographs can help personalize a professional service such as real estate sales. Professionally prepared portraits and photographs add a quality touch to your personal brand and image. However, when virtually every agent incorporates professionally prepared photographs into his or her marketing, individual distinctiveness is easily lost in a sea of conformity. To the outsider, apart from obvious physical characteristics, such as age, gender, hair and skin color, one agent looks much like all of the others. Think of your photographs like experienced cooks use common table salt. The right amount in the right places produce some great results. However, too much or to little in the wrong places can be off-putting. Tara's use of what appears to be a pleasing caricature of herself is a good example of appropriate use of an image. The logo shown above is tucked in the upper right corner of every page...visible, without jumping out at site visitors. Realistically,
site
visitors are more likely to contact you because you satisfy their
need for useful information than because of your “about me' page or
your photograph. The major lesson that we can learn from this site is that if the website information is well organized and easily accessible for site visitors, you probably cannot offer too much good content. All things considered, Tara's site illustrates the 5 key prinicples of organizing good website information into great web pages. Top Now...You Tell Me:
